Drama, Drama, Drama
Well, now that the dust is mostly settled - let me tell you about the wedding drama that unfolded the last week of 2015! Let's start with a little background:
January 2015:
The hunt for a wedding venue was in full force! We were excited to start planning after the holidays had ended and were open to all the options and dates in 2015, and possibly 2016! We came across The Lake House, and thought it was a great fit. They had grand plans to renovate, and we liked what they had planned. Scott's brother and wife picked a venue that was not built yet when they got married and it worked out great! We'd be fine. We loved what the Lake House offered, and signed a contract for a May 2016 wedding.
July 2015:
Knowing that the venue planned to open in Sept. 2015, we drove by to see the construction progress. There was none.
We called the manager, who let us know that they had to rebid the job and were planning to open April 2016. Construction would now be done in December.
Scott was skeptical, but I kept saying we'd be fine. However. Where there is smoke, there is fire...
December 2015:
We drove by on 12/28, almost 5 months out from the wedding. We drove into the parking lot and saw -- a pile of rocks and half a wall. Shocked, frustrated, and disappointed, we reached out to the manager and asked for information. A few hours later, a phone call confirmed our event was cancelled. Happy New Year!
On the upside, I am so lucky to have the best sister, bridesmaids, and friends who swiftly called around to find some options for venues with the date open. It was such a relief to know we could keep our wedding date!!
January 2016:
Jan 1 and 2 - we visited three venues, and picked a new spot!
We are so excited to start planning the details of our wedding at The North House!
While the biggest stress was not knowing if we had to change our date, we would have worked through it. This is just one bump in the road for us, and we came out on top. The most important thing is the guy at the end of the aisle and our future together!
